For the past two months, the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ) team has been running a Vaccination Accelerator (VA) programme, to secure COVID-19 vaccinations for members, under the Japanese Government’s Occupational Innoculation scheme.
The VA programme kicked off on Friday 18 June, upon agreement with Japanese partner organisation TKP who swiftly began receiving bookings from BCCJ members wishing to receive vaccinations for their workforces in batches of 50 “patients”. On June 22, an initial group of 250 BCCJ members arrived at TKP’s Innoculation Centre in Shinjuku and received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine.
Since then the BCCJ has been able to secure vaccinations for a total of 1250 BCCJ “patients” (chamber member company employees and families).
Throughout these activities, the BCCJ has been collaborating with 14 other international chambers of commerce in Japan on the “Vaccinations Coalition”, an information-sharing and resource-pooling initiative. Various chambers involved with this coalition have also entered into arrangements with TKP. As of June 25, this coalition has secured vaccinations for over 3250 cross-chamber members, embassies, and affiliated organisations.
TKP is no longer in a position to accept new bookings for Occupational Innoculations.
Thank you very much for everyone who’s supported and participated in the BCCJ’s Vaccination Accelerator programme.
