The British Chamber of Commerce Japan is joined by the Ireland Japan Chamber of Commerce, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Japan, SCCJ, Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry Japan, Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan, German Chamber of Commerce and Industry Japan, CCI France Japon, FCCJ, DCCJ, CCCJ, Belgian-Luxemborg Chamber of Commerce in Japan, ANZCCJ, ACCJ, Austrian Business Council, Greek Chamber of Commerce in Japan, Icelandic Chamber of Commerce Japan, South African Chamber of Commerce Japan, NCCJ, and the NCCJIII. This joint alliance was created to support the success of Japan’s 2020 Tokyo Paralympics Games. The Paralympics are a global celebration of diversity and inclusion, sporting achievement, and personal endeavor.

A Social Economic Impact Like No Other...
Economic Impact
According to an estimate by the Metropolis of Tokyo, increase in demand up to FY2030 associated with hosting of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics will be to the tune of about 14 trillion yen in the city of Tokyo alone. The breakup of this surge in demand is that about 2 trillion yen will be spent as investment and expenditure directly relating with the hosting of the Olympics and the balance demand worth JPY 12 trillion will be generated based on initiatives by the Metropolis Tokyo towards post-event legacy. Moreover, the economic ripple effect of the Olympics and Paralympics will spread across the country and the gross amount is expected to be in the vicinity 32 trillion yen.
Social Impact
The Paralympics have a huge social impact on society. Paralympic athletes are role models for the younger generation, and become public figures for change and advocacy on relevant issues. The Paralympics also have helped improve mobility and accessibility within Japan. The Games also help with the continuous investment in the Paralympic sport. There are also 17,699 schools in 47 different prefectures that are taking part in educational awareness programmes regarding the Paralympics. The Games also help bring more visibility of disability sport as a tool for social inclusion of disabled people.

Past Joint Chamber Paralliance Event
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) remains upbeat about hosting the Paralympic Games in 2021 and leaving a valuable legacy, even in the face of uncertain and challenging times ahead.
Representatives addressed members of the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ) on August 24 in a special one-year-to-go webinar hosted by the Paralliance, a group of 20 international chambers of commerce formed to support Paralympic-related activity in Japan.
