2019 BBA Nominees: Positive Impact

By the conclusion of the 2019 British Business Awards (BBA) nomination period, on Friday 18 October at noon, we had received 32 eligible nominations across 5 categories.

The following 9 companies are now in the running to lift the 2019 BBA Positive Impact trophy.

Barclays Securities Japan Limited has been contributing to addressing and raising awareness of some of the pressing environmental and social issues such as global warming, sea contamination, food loss and waste in Japan where we operate. We do this through business initiatives such as a local financial institution, leveraging our capability as a global bank.

Camping with Soul is on a mission to promote true British glamping culture in Japan. We have been collaborating with numerous companies and organisations in order to bring people closer to the rich nature Japan has to offer. These have included airlines, railway companies, travel agencies, car manufacturers, farms, fashion, foundations, department stores and even The Ministry of the Environment.

Croda Japan Shiga Site has been tackling CO2 reduction as a corporate sustainability target. We achieved 20% reduction over the past 5 years by various energy conservation and minimizing fossil fuel use in our production operation.

JUDGING

The decision on a winning 2019 BBA entry is the result of the combined score of 6 separate judges, who independently score each submission using the same scoring matrix.

To ensure transparency, each judge independently returns his or her score sheet to the BCCJ office by 7 November 2019 and the results are tabulated confidentially. The scores from each judge are then totaled for each nominee, and the nomination with the highest accumulative score is declared the category winner.

In the event of two nominees receiving the same final score, all judges will be asked to review their scores for these companies / individuals, and the submission with the highest score from this second round of judging will be declared the winner.

The final results remain confidential until the BBA ceremony – held on the evening of 8th November, 2018 at the Hotel Gajoen Tokyo.
