Membership at the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan
Download PDF Booklet HERE日本語

Welcome to the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ) – a vibrant hub with a proven track record in connecting businesses, professionals, and entrepreneurs. Our Chamber stands as a beacon of collaboration, providing an effective platform for networking, knowledge-sharing, professional development and creating friendships for life. We tackle challenges head on and lead key conversations that matter most to businesses such as climate change, diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI), technology and policy & regulations.

Since the arrival of William Adams in 1600, the UK and Japan have had a long history of trade, and both being island nations, they share many common values. In recent years, bilateral relations have gone from strength to strength with the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, the UK’s accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership and most recently, The Hiroshima Accord. By all means, it is an exciting time for business prospects in Japan.

If you feel you have something to contribute to the ever-evolving UK-Japan business relationship, or would simply like to take advantage of the BCCJ’s unparalleled platform, we invite you to get in contact and meet our dynamic community for yourself.

What our members have to say

Eri Takeuchi

Rob Peer

BAE Systems values the role the BCCJ plays in our stakeholder engagement activity in Japan to support Japan’s defence needs, with the meetings with senior Japanese politicians and industrialists of particular value.

Helen Iwata

Being part of the BCCJ is such a joy. The Chamber consistently offers well-organised and meaningful events—informative, social, and always fun—and I’ve met a wonderfully wide range of business professionals in Japan through its community. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, and my involvement has led to new business opportunities. And I have to say… the warmth and laughter of Executive Director Sarah Backley are infectious—every interaction with the BCCJ leaves me feeling uplifted.

Ian Prideaux

The BCCJ is an important part of our support to UK companies doing business here in Japan.  The BCCJ proactively help us to maintain and build our profile and networks here in Japan and work hard to put on meaningful events throughout the year as well as giving us the opportunity to get involved in various working groups.  Many thanks to Sarah and the team for all of their help.
