Introducing the BCCJ NPO | Charity Membership Tier

BCCJ Membership Tier Announcement

As the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan continues to strengthen its engagement across the UK-Japan business community, we are pleased to announce the launch of a new membership category: NPO | Charity.

 

Approved by the FY2025-2026 Executive Committee and formally endorsed at the Annual General Meeting on 23 April, the new category is now officially open to eligible organisations.

 

This membership tier has been created to:

  • Strengthen constructive engagement between business and civil society
  • Support collaboration on shared priorities
  • Enable responsible cross-sector dialogue
  • Provide access to the Chamber community on the same basis as other members

 

Eligibility

To join as a NPO | Charity member, organisations must meet all of the following core requirements. 

 

  1. Legal status
    • Registered NPO / charity in Japan
    • Nintei status preferred
  2. Purpose & activities
    • The organisation’s primary purpose must be non-commercial public benefit, as defined in its governing documents and activities
    • Core activities should not materially duplicate fee-based services comparable to the commercial offerings of BCCJ members
  3. Governance & transparency
    • Published annual report and financial statements
    • Clear board / governance structure
    • No political or religious campaigning activities
  4. Japan link
    • Active operations in Japan with demonstrable local impact

 

Exclusions

To ensure the integrity and intended purpose of the category, the following organisations would not normally be eligible:

  • Professional or member associations
  • Training or consultancy providers
  • Sports academies or clubs
  • Entities primarily funded through service fees
  • Fee-charging schools or education providers
  • Organisations whose principal purpose is to promote the commercial interests of their own members

 

We warmly welcome such organisations to join the BCCJ through our standard corporate and/or individual membership routes. Please note that eligibility criteria remain subject to review.

 

Rights of membership & boundaries

 

NPO | Charity members will receive:

  • Up to two listed delegates in the BCCJ Directory
  • Access to BCCJ events at member rates
  • Participation in BCCJ Working Groups
  • Inclusion within the wider BCCJ network
  • Opportunities to collaborate with corporate members on initiatives aligned with BCCJ priorities

Membership boundaries

  • Speaking opportunities and promotional visibility remain subject to standard BCCJ editorial and programming discretion
  • No direct fundraising or unsolicited donation requests
  • No additional rights beyond those afforded to standard members
  • Strict adherence to the BCCJ Code of Conduct
  • Participation in BBA or other fundraising activities by application only and not guaranteed
  • Use of the BCCJ name or logo for external promotion requires prior approval, in line with standard member guidelines

 

Pricing

The NPO | Charity membership tier is priced at JPY 50,000 per annum.

BCCJ（在日英国商業会議所）では、日英ビジネスコミュニティとの連携をさらに深めていく取り組みの一環として、新たな会員資格カテゴリー『NPO・チャリティ団体会員』を新設いたしました。

 

本カテゴリーは、2025–2026年度理事会による承認を経て、4月23日開催の年次総会において正式に承認され、このたび対象団体の皆様へ正式にご案内できる運びとなりました。

 

本会員資格は、以下を目的として設立されたものです。

・ビジネスと市民社会との建設的な対話の促進
・共通課題に対する協働機会の創出
・責任ある分野横断型エンゲージメントの推進
・他会員と同様の基準によるBCCJコミュニティへの参加機会の提供

入会資格

NPO・チャリティ団体会員資格へのご入会には、以下すべての要件を満たしている必要があります。

法的要件

・日本国内において正式に登録された NPO法人または公益法人であること
・認定NPO法人資格を有していることが望ましい

活動目的・事業内容

・定款および実際の活動において、非営利かつ公益性を主たる目的としていること
・主要活動が、BCCJ会員企業による商業サービスと実質的に競合する有償事業ではないこと

ガバナンス・透明性

・年次報告書および財務情報を公開していること
・明確な理事会／ガバナンス体制を有していること
・政治活動または宗教的勧誘活動を行っていないこと

日本国内での活動実績

・日本国内において継続的な活動実績と明確な社会的インパクトを有していること

 

対象外となる団体

本カテゴリーの趣旨および健全性を維持する観点から、以下の団体は原則として対象外となります。

・業界団体／会員制協会
・研修事業者／コンサルティング事業者
・スポーツアカデミー／クラブ
・サービス提供収益を主財源とする団体
・授業料収入を主とする学校法人／教育機関
・自団体会員の商業的利益促進を主目的とする組織

なお、上記団体の皆様につきましても、通常のコーポレート・中小企業会員資格または個人会員資格を通じたご参加を心より歓迎しております。また、入会基準については今後見直しが行われる場合があります。

 

会員資格に含まれる内容

NPO・チャリティー会員資格には、以下が含まれます。

・BCCJ Directory への最大2名までの登録
・BCCJ主催イベントへの会員価格での参加
・BCCJ Working Groups への参加
・BCCJコミュニティおよびネットワークへのアクセス
・BCCJの重点分野に沿った取り組みにおける企業会員との協働機会

 

会員資格に関する方針・制限事項

・登壇機会および広報露出は、BCCJの編集・プログラム方針に基づき個別に判断されます
・直接的な資金調達活動や未承諾の寄付依頼は禁止されています
・通常会員資格を超える追加権利は付与されません
・BCCJ Code of Conductの遵守が必須となります
・BBAをはじめとする各種チャリティ活動への参加は申請制となっており、参加を保証するものではありません
・BCCJ名称およびロゴの外部利用には、通常の会員ガイドラインに基づく事前承認が必要です

 

会費

NPO・チャリティ団体会員資格の年会費は、50,000円（税込）となります。
