VNC Automotive is a pioneer in car connectivity and telematics software and hardware, and its technology is currently in use in over 35 million vehicles, across 20 of the world’s largest automotive OEMs, including VW Group, Toyota, Honda, PSA. VNC Automotive develops and supplies software across the automotive ecosystem to equipment suppliers such as Bosch, Panasonic, Clarion, Pioneer and device vendors such as Sony, HTC, LG, and Huawei.

VNC Automotive’s production-grade software and hardware enable the cutting edge of connected vehicle use cases, across the entire transportation industry. Their solutions allow auto makers to enrich the in-vehicle experience for drivers and passengers through device connectivity, multimedia and productivity, and telematics for helpdesk support. The in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system, head unit display and rear seat entertainment screens can all be used to access smartphone native applications, media and content. Secure outbound connections can also be made to access home automation or workplace systems.

For emergency service and law enforcement vehicles, equipment integration is the focus. Bulky equipment including automatic number plate recognition, lights and sirens, smartphones, tablets and PCs are seamlessly integrated, displayed and controlled from the existing vehicle screen. These devices are now safely stowed outside of the cabin, improving occupant safety. Secure, inbound and outbound connectivity also enables remote operator support.

Meanwhile, OEMs and operators of logistical vehicles including trucks, vans and taxis deploy VNC Automotive technology for live and continuous access to vehicle data and telematics. Their technology is used to enable fleet operators to maximise efficiency around local route mapping, improve fuel economy and preemptively identify maintenance issues to virtually eliminate unplanned vehicle downtime.

Additionally, remote connectivity and control of heavy duty and agricultural vehicles is enabling OEMs to realise several benefits. Isolated agricultural land and hazardous construction sites embed VNC Automotive’s connectivity solutions into their vehicles, which can subsequently be viewed and operated remotely, without drivers and around the clock. This level of autonomy increases productivity and removes the risk to drivers.

The ride hailing and car sharing space also require IVI and associated vehicle screens to become quickly and seamlessly customisable depending on who is on board. In this use case, smartphone or cloud centric IVI systems enable drivers and passengers to personalise their in-vehicle experience as well as providing the ability to access a helpdesk that can offer support if the vehicle user has any issues.

Lastly, when embedded within test automation tools, Tier 1s use VNC Automotive’s connectivity solutions to simulate screen events on target devices. The software is integrated into head units before the Tier 1 commences production, enabling rigorous remote and automated testing to take place covering all possible specific screen events.
