Welcome: Oxford EMI
Oxford EMI is a global leader in internationalisation and teacher training, providing short courses and consultancy for universities, schools, and governments navigating the challenges of internationalisation and bilingual education.
Oxford EMI offers training courses for university lecturers and for high school teachers who teach their subject in English. Our courses give educators confidence in their English and teaching techniques which are successful when teaching in an English Medium context. We also offer English Language courses for students. We are honoured to work with many Japanese institutions including Waseda University, International Christian University, Keio University and more.
Oxford EMI was founded by Julie Dearden, Research Fellow and Director of International Programmes at the University of Oxford, who produced seminal work in the field of English Medium Instruction (EMI). English Medium Instruction is the term used when an educator teaches their subject in English. Julie Dearden published the first definition of EMI and made significant contributions to research into various aspects of English language teaching in non-native contexts. She is joined at Oxford EMI by a team of researchers, trainers and education experts who feed into all of the work that we do and all of the support we offer.
Here's an example of one of our face-to-face courses at Waseda University, Japan.
