Welcome to David Taylor MP as UK Trade Envoy to Japan

The British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ) welcomes the appointment of David Taylor as the United Kingdom’s Trade Envoy to Japan.

Announced by the UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade, this appointment forms part of the UK Government’s wider Trade Envoy programme, which plays an important role in supporting the UK’s growth agenda and strengthening international trade relationships.

Working closely with Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and His Majesty’s Trade Commissioners, Trade Envoys support the development of deeper bilateral partnerships, facilitate trade missions, and help address market access challenges, ensuring British companies are well positioned to succeed in global markets.

Japan remains a key partner for the United Kingdom, with strong and growing ties across trade, investment, and innovation. The role of Trade Envoy is therefore particularly significant in supporting continued collaboration between the two countries, including promoting opportunities for UK businesses operating in or entering the Japanese market.

The BCCJ looks forward to engaging with David Taylor MP in his new role and to supporting efforts to further strengthen UK-Japan commercial ties.

The Trade Envoy programme is cross-party and voluntary, with Envoys drawn from both Houses of Parliament. With this latest appointment, there are now 31 Trade Envoys covering 72 international markets. For more information visit: United Kingdom’s Trade Envoy Programme - GOV.UK
