Hello fellow members of the Chamber,

I was delighted to meet many of you at a recent ‘Welcome Wednesdays‘ BCCJ introductory event.

My name is Dermot Killoran and I have been in Japan for just over 30 years.  When I originally arrived I was working in the Banking & Finance sector.  Nowadays, I am a freelance photographer based in Tokyo. My business operates under the name of Calderwood Images and I have a small photographic studio centrally located in Yotsuya.

In recent years, I have been working with the Chamber in a number of capacities and felt it was finally time for me to further engage and formally become a member. Many of my closest friends and business acquaintances are long-standing members, so I am delighted to be joining them and supporting the chamber’s mission in Japan.

My photographic work is offered to companies and individuals. This comprises of general photographic services including tourism promotion for marketing Japan to overseas visitors, and supporting hotels and airlines. One area I have tended to create a niche is in providing professional images for portraits and headshots. I am something of an ‘evangelist’ for promoting the concept that everyone should have at least one great image of themselves for their personal public promotion.  Whether used for business or social media, the fact is that people are often perceived on the basis of their online persona and that image should not be left to chance in that it might convey a less than flattering impression!
