The Responsible Business Award celebrates those setting new standards for ethical and sustainable enterprise. Our 2025 nominees have shown remarkable dedication to creating positive change within their organisations and the wider UK–Japan community.

 

Out of 48 eligible applications, we are pleased to announce 9 nominees for the category of Responsible Business.

 

Nominees for the Responsible Business Award must have delivered exceptionally effective responsible business initiatives in Japan over the past 12 months. This category recognises overall sustainability efforts across environmental and social areas.

Barclays

 

Through Unreasonable Impact, a multi-year partnership with Unreasonable Group, Barclays is supporting high-growth ventures to scale and address global issues while creating jobs of tomorrow. Participating entrepreneurs are supported through networks, resources and mentorship and Barclays colleagues are involved in coaching the entrepreneurs each year.


 

Coaching Leaders Japan G.K.

 

Since our founding in 2020, Coaching Leaders Japan has supported more than 1,000 leaders in Japan and around the world to grow beyond traditional ways of leading. We help leaders build the courage to make bold, responsible choices and inspire their teams to create lasting social and environmental impact.


 

 

 

EY Japan

 

In EY Japan, we aim to build a better working world by creating long-term value for our clients and society. We supported Japanese public and private sector initiatives, advanced in our own KPIs which are disclosed transparently in our latest Integrated Annual Report and won international recognition in ESG consulting.


 

 

KiFor

 

KiFor runs hands-on social impact workshops that unite employee growth with community good. In the past year, we’ve engaged 100+ employees, raised ¥660,000+ for single mothers and the homeless, and donated 100+ laptops and food boxes to orphans, proving that businesses in Japan can lead with purpose and social impact.


 

Klein Dytham architecture

 

Over the past year, Klein Dytham architecture (KDa) has demonstrated responsible practice and sustainable impact in Japan’s Noto region. In partnership with NPO Home for All, KDa secured funding and coordinated five post-earthquake community shelters, designing the first in Noroshimachi using local materials and inclusive collaboration to foster resilience, helping rescue 21 tons of kawara roof tiles that were reused, preserving cultural heritage while rebuilding community strength.

We, Standard Chartered Japan, are applying for the Responsible Business Award in recognition of our efforts to drive sustainable economic growth and promote responsible investment. Over the past year, we have focused on advancing social and environmental impact through initiatives such as our Africa seminar in connection with TICAD 9 (9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development), which highlighted inclusive development, renewable energy, and digital access.
