Platinum Jubilee Cake Competition – Have your say!

As part of the celebrations to mark HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the British Embassy Tokyo and British Consulate-General Osaka launched “The Platinum Jubilee Afternoon Tea” and a “Platinum Jubilee Cake Competition” in March to ask 5-star hotels around Japan to organise a celebratory festival of “Platinum Jubilee Afternoon Teas” for a period of their choice during the Platinum Jubilee year of 2022, and to create a cake (or cakes) fit for a Queen for guests to enjoy. As part of this festival, each hotel was asked to design and create a cake (or cakes) to be served at the afternoon teas.

Ten hotels in total, including 3 BCCJ members (Conrad Tokyo, Prince Park Tower, Tokyo EDITION), accepted the challenge. You can follow the competition on the British Embassy’s Twitter pages HERE, and will have a chance to “like” your favourite cake in the run-up to the final between May 30 – June 3 on the Embassy’s Twitter page. The first round of judging took place on May 20 and the second and final round on June 16.
