New Member: Rayport Advisory

New Members

The British Chamber of Commerce in Japan is delighted to welcome Rayport Advisory to our ever-growing membership base.

Rayport Advisory is an accounting and financial advisory firm specialising in day-to-day accounting and tax advisory for foreign-owned companies operating in Japan, as well as governance, internal audit, and internal control support for companies with overseas subsidiaries.

When foreign companies establish a presence in Japan, so much attention goes into the initial work of incorporation that a crucial question often gets pushed aside: who will manage ongoing accounting and tax matters, and in what language. It is not uncommon for companies to engage a Japanese-language-only accounting firm, only to realise months or years later that they have limited visibility into how their own financial statements and tax adjustments are actually being handled. Back-office support is not just a start-up task; it is the foundation that carries a business forward for years to come.

Rayport Advisory was founded in 2025 to bridge this exact gap between Japanese accounting practice and international corporate standards. Its representative holds dual qualifications as a Japanese Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Public Tax Accountant (Zeirishi), bringing over ten years of professional experience across Deloitte in both Tokyo and London. Throughout his career at Big Four audit firms, he led statutory financial audits for multinational entities in Japan and overseas, while providing specialized advisory services, including internal controls implementation (J-SOX) and IPO readiness support. This combination of deep expertise in Japanese accounting and tax practice with international, hands-on experience overseas underpins the firm's approach: delivering Big Four-calibre expertise to foreign companies in clear, accessible English.

While on assignment in the UK, the representative saw first-hand how few professionals were able to support clients with accounting and tax matters in a way that truly understood and respected both Japanese and British and international business culture. This insight inspired the establishment of Rayport Advisory, aiming to offer practical, culture-aware financial solutions for cross-border businesses. The representative also serves as a statutory auditor for a number of pre-IPO companies, bringing a governance perspective alongside the firm's accounting advisory work.

Rayport Advisory provides comprehensive back-office solutions and corporate advisory services, with all professional communications and deliverables handled seamlessly in clear English. Its core services include:

A Word from our Representative
'Many foreign companies operating in Japan face an ongoing challenge that extends well beyond their initial entry: finding a professional they can trust to manage their day-to-day accounting and tax matters in English, year after year. Rayport Advisory was founded to meet exactly that need. Through the BCCJ community, I look forward to connecting directly with companies navigating challenges in accounting, tax, and governance.'

Why did you decide to join the BCCJ?
Our representative was seconded to the UK during his time at an audit firm, and that experience led to supporting a significant number of British companies over the years. Drawing on our familiarity with British business culture and accounting practice, we hope to contribute — through the BCCJ network — to companies with ties to the UK, on the accounting and tax side of their business.

What are you hoping to get out of your membership?
We would like to build relationships with BCCJ member companies operating in Japan, as well as with lawyers, real estate advisors, recruitment agencies, and other professionals who often support the same companies around the same time. We would also welcome the opportunity to contribute directly to members — for example, through seminars on Japanese accounting topics.

What sets Rayport Advisory apart from other accounting firms?
Our representative holds both CPA and Licensed Tax Accountant qualifications and has audit firm experience in both Japan and the UK. This allows us to support clients on Japanese accounting and tax matters while genuinely understanding and respecting the culture and background of British and other international companies. We focus specifically on accounting support for the Japanese subsidiaries of foreign companies, and on internal audit and internal controls for companies with overseas subsidiaries.

What kinds of connections are you most looking to build through the BCCJ?
We are particularly focused on connecting with British companies that are already operating in Japan or are planning to establish a base here. We would also like to build relationships with accounting firms and audit firms based in the UK and elsewhere in Europe, working towards seamless support for shared clients on both sides.
