New Member: Cambridge Online Education
The British Chamber of Commerce in Japan is delighted to welcome Cambridge Online Education to our ever-growing membership base.
Cambridge Online Education is a UK-based education company providing a broad range of flexible online learning opportunities to students in the UK and internationally. Through our different schools, colleges and educational services, we are able to support learners with a wide range of needs, circumstances and ambitions.
Our provision includes Bridge Online School, which specialises in supporting students with SEND and young people who may benefit from an alternative to a traditional school environment; OCAD (Online College of Art & Design), providing specialist online creative arts education; CHS (Cambridge Home School) and British Online School, providing British online education to students in the UK and around the world.
The wider Cambridge Online Education group also provides additional learning pathways through NLC (Next Level College), including opportunities such as online Access courses and A Levels.
Together, these different areas of provision allow us to support students at different stages of their educational journey rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach to learning.
Flexibility and personalisation are central to what we do. Online education can provide continuity for internationally mobile families, access to British education regardless of geographical location, and alternative pathways for young people who may not thrive within a conventional classroom.
Alongside our work with individual students and families, we are increasingly developing relationships with organisations, education providers, employers and international communities. Through these partnerships, we hope to raise awareness of the different educational pathways available and help connect families and young people with provision that is appropriate for their individual circumstances.
Joining the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan represents an exciting next step in this work. We are keen to become an active part of the BCCJ community, learn more about the educational needs of families and organisations in Japan and build meaningful, long-term relationships with members.
We are particularly interested in connecting with employers supporting internationally mobile staff and their families, education providers, organisations working within SEND and inclusion, and partners interested in developing educational links between the UK and Japan.
Ultimately, Cambridge Online Education is about creating choice in education and helping learners find an educational pathway that works for them, wherever in the world they happen to be.

Cambridge Online Education

'I believe education should be flexible enough to recognise that every young person is different. Geography, individual circumstances or finding a traditional classroom difficult shouldn't prevent a student from accessing a high-quality education. I'm really looking forward to building relationships within the BCCJ community and exploring how the different areas of Cambridge Online Education can support young people, families and organisations in Japan.'
With a background in education, Sammy brings first-hand understanding of young people and their differing educational needs to her work developing partnerships in the UK and internationally.
Her role focuses on building genuine, long-term relationships with organisations, education partners and international communities, helping to raise awareness of flexible educational pathways and connecting families and organisations with the different areas of provision available through Cambridge Online Education.
A particular focus of Sammy's work is developing international partnerships and raising awareness of educational alternatives for internationally mobile families, young people with SEND and students who may benefit from a more flexible approach to learning.
Through the BCCJ, Sammy is looking forward to becoming part of the community, meeting members and exploring opportunities for meaningful collaboration between the UK and Japan.
Why did you join the BCCJ?
We joined the BCCJ because we see a real opportunity to build meaningful relationships within the British and international community in Japan.
For us, membership isn't simply about increasing our international presence. We want to understand the community, develop genuine partnerships and connect with organisations where our different areas of educational provision could make a positive difference to young people and their families.
We also see the BCCJ as an opportunity to learn from organisations already working in Japan and to become part of the wider UK–Japan business community.
What do you most hope to gain from your time as a member?
We hope to become an active part of the BCCJ community, building relationships with members and developing a better understanding of the needs of families and organisations in Japan.
We would particularly welcome opportunities to collaborate, share knowledge, attend BCCJ events and develop connections with organisations working across education, international mobility, SEND, inclusion and family support.
Equally, we are keen to listen and learn. We want our membership to develop through genuine relationships rather than simply promoting our services.
What makes your organisation unique in your industry or market?
One of the things that makes Cambridge Online Education different is the breadth of educational provision available within the organisation.
Rather than offering a single model of online education, our different schools and colleges enable us to support a broad range of learners – from students seeking British online schooling and internationally mobile families, through to young people with SEND, creative arts students and older learners looking for alternative routes into further or higher education.
Through Bridge Online School, OCAD, Cambridge Home School, British Online School and Next Level College, we can provide different educational pathways while retaining the flexibility and personalisation that sit at the heart of Cambridge Online Education.
What recent achievements or milestones are you most proud of?
One development we're particularly proud of is the growth of our international relationships and partnerships.
We are increasingly connecting with British Chambers, Business Councils, education organisations and international communities, creating opportunities to raise awareness of flexible British education and develop relationships that can ultimately benefit young people and their families.
Becoming part of the BCCJ community represents an exciting next step in that international development and gives us the opportunity to begin building meaningful relationships in Japan.
What kind of collaborations or connections are you most interested in building through the BCCJ?
We are particularly interested in developing relationships with employers supporting internationally mobile employees and their families, education providers, international and expatriate communities, organisations working within SEND and inclusion, and partners interested in strengthening educational connections between Japan and the UK.
We would also welcome connections with organisations supporting young people and families where there may be opportunities to share knowledge, collaborate or provide alternative educational pathways.
Importantly, we're also very open to conversations with BCCJ members where there may be opportunities we haven't yet considered. Some of the most valuable partnerships begin simply by bringing the right people together.
