The British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ) is delighted to welcome Executive Search Firm, Bentley Lewis Executive Search, to our ever-growing membership base.

 

Led by APAC Managing Partner, Jason Chuei, Bentley Lewis Executive Search offers a level of continuity rarely found in the industry. From end to end, Jason remains personally involved throughout, ensuring a consistent and carefully guided process at every stage.

Founded in 2010, Bentley Lewis is an award-winning global boutique firm with a clear purpose: to help organisations build world-class leadership teams that drive growth and long-term success. We specialise in executive search and talent advisory for C-suite, board, and critical functional roles across sectors including financial services, technology, life sciences, healthcare, digital, and industrials. Operating in over 50 countries, we combine global reach with deep local insight to ensure each engagement reflects regional cultural and market realities, positioning us well to support clients navigating cross-border growth.

 

The story began over 30 years ago when CEO Lewis Maleh and Managing Partner Jason Chuei became friends at secondary school in Watford. They stayed connected throughout the years with their lifelong friendship catalysing into a professional partnership in 2025, with Chuei establishing the APAC branch, adding to Bentley Lewis's portfolio. 

 

As with the formation of Bentley Lewis, our approach is built on partnership. We act as a trusted extension of our clients' teams, taking the time to deeply understand their strategy, culture, and leadership dynamics. This allows us to deliver tailored solutions and support organisations through periods of change. Our integrated model combines executive search with leadership and talent advisory, supporting the full leadership lifecycle from market mapping and search through to onboarding, development, and retention. We focus on candidate experience and storytelling, recognising its impact on employer brand.

Why did you join the BCCJ?


We joined to immerse ourselves in a community that understands the bridge between British business values and the Japanese market. As a UK-founded firm expanding across Asia, we wanted a home where we could connect with like-minded leaders navigating similar cross-border complexities. It is about being part of a sophisticated network that champions quality and long-term partnership.

 

What do you most hope to gain from your time as a member?


Beyond simple networking, we are here to exchange practical, 'ground truth' insights on the future of work in Japan. We hope to build authentic ties with leaders who see culture as a competitive advantage, share our global perspective on leadership development to help members scale effectively, and collaborate with partners who are passionate about driving organisational transformation across the APAC corridor.

 

What makes your organisation unique in your industry or market?


We move beyond the transactional nature of typical recruitment. Our Human AI Intelligence model uses advanced data and insights to uncover 'hidden' talent that traditional search often misses, while keeping the final evaluation deeply human to ensure cultural and leadership fit. We do not simply place and leave; our integrated advisory approach supports a leader’s journey from onboarding to long-term impact, delivered with a boutique, high-touch experience backed by global reach.

 

What recent achievements or milestones are you most proud of?


We are particularly proud of the long-term outcomes we deliver, with the vast majority of leaders we place remaining in role for at least two years and many for significantly longer. We have also continued to expand our global footprint, successfully delivering senior leadership searches across more than 50 countries, while maintaining a strong focus on diversity, candidate experience, and partnership-led engagement.

 

What kind of collaborations or connections are you most interested in building through the BCCJ?


Through the BCCJ, we are keen to connect with organisations operating across the UK–Japan and wider APAC corridor, particularly those navigating growth, transformation, or international expansion. We are also interested in building relationships with senior business leaders, HR and talent professionals, and advisory partners who share a focus on leadership, culture, and long-term organisational success.
