DEI Nominees: BBA 2025

British Business Awards

From a pool of 48 applications spanning seven distinguished award categories, five outstanding organisations have been recognised for their commitment to advancing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Their work exemplifies integrity, purpose, and a forward-looking approach to building more inclusive and representative workplaces.

The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion category embodies the evolving spirit of the UK–Japan business community — one that values understanding, accessibility, and opportunity for all. It acknowledges those who are shaping environments where difference is respected, collaboration is strengthened, and every voice carries weight.

We are delighted to announce this year’s nominees for the DEI Award. The following excerpts, drawn from their Executive Summaries, highlight how each organisation is driving meaningful and lasting change across their fields and why they have been nominated.

Atsumi & Sakai

Over the years, A&S has made very strong and deliberate efforts to create an environment where its lawyers and staff alike, both Japanese and non-Japanese, can thrive and reach their full potential irrespective of gender, nationality or family circumstances, which has enabled our members to flourish in A&S and the wider legal and business community in Japan.

Hilton Tokyo

Receiving the BBA DEI Award would be a powerful affirmation of our journey and a catalyst to amplify our impact. We are deeply honoured to stand among organisations paving the way towards a more inclusive and equitable future and we remain committed to advancing this important mission. We have a continued focus to work with NPOs to provide work opportunities for persons with disabilities.

OMRON Corporation

For over 50 years, OMRON has championed DEI initiatives in Japan starting with the foundation of Japan's first factory for the specially-abled, OMRON Taiyo in 1972 followed by OMRON Kyoto Taiyo in 1986. Employing diverse talent with physical, mental, and developmental disabilities, OMRON enables employees to contribute to society with their unique skills.

Sasuga Communications K. K.

As global uncertainty leads some companies to scale back DEI, Sasuga Communications K.K. has strengthened its commitment in Japan—where women remain underrepresented in leadership. Through bilingual coaching and training, we support women to build confidence, presence, and energy, enabling organisations to unlock under appreciated talent and amplify impact.

Transreport Limited

Transreport’s Passenger Assistance, co-created with disabled and older people and launched with Hankyu Railway, is transforming travel in Japan. By removing barriers and easing anxiety, it empowers independence and dignity. More than technology, it’s a commitment to inclusion, setting new standards for accessible journeys across Japan’s transport networks.

We extend our deepest thanks to this year’s sponsors, whose support makes this celebration possible.
