Charities and Prizes Showcase: BBA 2025 Raffle

This year, the BCCJ is proud to support two outstanding charities through the BBA 2025 Raffle. The two charities we will be supporting this year are Playground of Hope and Animal Refuge Kansai.
The BBA 2025 Raffle brings together the generosity of our sponsors and the excitement of our guests for two very meaningful causes. This year’s raffle features 15 incredible prizes, each offering a memorable experience, from luxurious hotel stays to unique experiences. Meet the Charities
Playground of Hope is a Tokyo-based non-profit organisation improving outdoor play environments in at-risk communities, founded on the belief that play is essential to children’s emotional, social, and physical well-being.
Established to rebuild playgrounds in disaster-affected areas of Tohoku, the organisation has since expanded its work to children’s homes across Japan. There are more than 600 children’s homes nationwide, where many residents have experienced abuse or neglect and live under high levels of stress.
Since constructing its first playground in Ishinomaki in 2012, Playground of Hope has built more than 130 play spaces across Japan with the support of corporate partners and volunteers. It also organises play events for children in care facilities, providing a break from institutional settings. In addition, Playground of Hope runs a programme for young people leaving children’s homes at the age of eighteen, offering mental health counselling, mentorship, and employment opportunities through partner companies to support their transition to independent living.

Founded in 1990 by Briton Elizabeth Oliver, MBE, ARK has spent 35 years serving animals and the wider community.
At its Sasayama Shelter, dogs benefit from air-conditioned comfort, a spacious dog run, and a river set within pristine natural surroundings. Meanwhile, the flagship Nose shelter provides cats and dogs with tranquil spaces shaded by mature trees and shrubs. Both facilities are staffed by experienced professionals, many with veterinary nursing or dog-grooming qualifications.
ARK animals receive attentive medical care and behavioural support when needed. The organisation’s careful screening process ensures the best match between animals and adopters, with ongoing guidance offered throughout each pet’s life.
Education is central to ARK’s mission. Its Student Education Program, recently expanded, engages young people in animal welfare through workshops and seminars for all ages. Over 35 years, ARK has established a reputation for high standards of care and community engagement, and continues to shape a brighter future for animals in Japan.

注目のチャリティ団体
プレイグラウンド・オブ・ホープは、リスクを抱える地域における屋外遊び環境の改善に取り組む、東京を拠点としたNPO法人です。子どもの情緒的・社会的・身体的な健やかな成長には「遊び」が不可欠であるという信念のもと活動しています。
東日本大震災後、被災地・東北での遊び場再建を目的に設立され、その後は日本各地の児童養護施設へと活動を広げています。日本には600を超える児童養護施設があり、多くの子どもたちは虐待やネグレクトを経験し、高いストレス状態で生活しています。
2012年に石巻で最初の遊び場を設置して以来、Playground of Hopeは企業や多くのボランティアの協力のもと、全国で130か所以上の遊び場を整備してきました。また、施設で暮らす子どもたちに遊びの機会を提供するイベントも開催し、日常からのひとときを届けています。さらに近年では、18歳で施設を退所し自立を求められる若者たちを対象に、メンタルヘルス支援、メンター制度、企業との連携による就労機会の提供など、自立支援プログラムも展開しています。

1990年にイギリス人のエリザベス・オリバー氏（MBE）によって設立されたARKは、35年にわたり動物と地域社会に貢献してきました。
笹山シェルターでは、犬たちが冷房の効いた快適な環境、広々としたドッグラン、そして清らかな川のそばで過ごせます。一方、本拠地の能勢シェルターでは、猫や犬が成熟した樹木や低木の陰で静かに過ごすことができます。両施設とも、獣医看護師やドッググルーミングの資格を持つ経験豊富なスタッフが常駐しています。
ARKの動物たちは、必要に応じて医療ケアや行動サポートを受けています。厳格なスクリーニングにより、動物と里親の最適なマッチングを実現しており、引き渡し後もスタッフがサポートを提供しています。
教育活動もARKの重要な使命です。最近拡充された学生向け教育プログラムでは、動物福祉に関心を持つ若者が参加できるワークショップやセミナーを幅広く提供しています。35年間にわたり、高いケア基準と地域社会への貢献で知られるARKは、今後も日本の動物たちに明るい未来をもたらす活動を続けています。
