The British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ) is pleased to announce that, after a fruitful 5 years at the Ark Hills Front Tower, we’ve moved to an inspiring new location!

As of July 1, we are sharing office space with long-term BCCJ Platinum member and British multinational luxury automotive company, Jaguar Land Rover, Japan.

The relocation, only the fourth to independent premises in the BCCJ’s 73 year history, sits in line with our chamber strategy to grow as an innovation hub, while supporting our team to operate in ever-more flexible and creative ways, beyond COVID-19. The BCCJ team has taken up residence in the F-TYPE room, amid the open and collaborative workspaces at JLR’s Japan HQ in Shinagawa, Tokyo.

A history of partnership

Both established in 1948, Jaguar and the BCCJ have enjoyed many years of history and collaboration, including partnerships over recent years in Japan around the British Business Awards, BCCJ Golf Cup days, and event tie ups such as a session on ACES (the future of mobility) held at the Swedish Embassy in Tokyo in association with the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Japan.

The key objectives of the BCCJ’s 2021 move to Jaguar Land Rover are to:

  • Reflect the BCCJ’s mission and objectives as an agile, modern and resilient business network
  • Grow alongside Jaguar Land Rover, a dedicated BCCJ Platinum member
  • Co-create membership value proposition for our BCCJ community
  • Reduce resources associated with operating a standalone office
  • Allow the BCCJ team space and time to reimagine the future of work and life at the chamber, post-pandemic.

Fearlessly creative

Jaguar Land Rover Japan’s President and Director Magnus Hansson says, “We are delighted to host the team in our offices. As a British company we want to contribute to the BCCJ agenda and vision in any way possible and this is a logical way to support as the world has changed. A warm welcome to our facilities!”

BCCJ Executive Director Lori Henderson MBE says, “Our new office arrangements at Jaguar Land Rover in Tokyo reflect the BCCJ’s position as an agile 21st century business organisation. A more collaborative working environment will enable us to become ever-more responsive to the diverse needs of our member companies, beyond COVID-19. As we all adjust to hybrid ways of working, our team is committed to staying ahead of the curve in delivering members services. We are confident our new environment will be a springboard for our future growth plans – for our people and our members alike. Just like Jaguar Land Rover, we aim to be fearlessly creative!”.

Shared values

Jaguar Land Rover have always worked at the avant-garde of technologies and design and continue to redefine what modern luxury means in the world of a sustainable tomorrow. JLR’s commitment to the core pillars of BCCJ’s 5.0 – Diversity & Inclusion, Digital & Tech Innovation, and Responsible Business – are just some of the reasons that we couldn’t be more excited to announce this space as our new hive for the next year.

Marking a brand new chapter for the BCCJ, we look forward to working alongside this iconic multinational British company, synonymous with UK innovation and leadership – and hope to welcome you for a cup of tea someday!

We would like to thank the team at Jaguar Land Rover for their warm welcome, and for inviting the BCCJ team to take a spin in the newly Japan-released Land Rover Defender.

The BCCJ team also wishes to thank all members and friends who have helped support our relocation scoping activities in 2021, in particular: Sanko Estate, Mori Bldg. Co. Ltd., Imperial Tower.
