DIGITAL, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION
BRITISH BUSINESS AWARDS 2026 OFFICIAL NOMINEES

Darktrace ダークトレース・ジャパン株式会社
DarkTrace Japan uses AI that learns each customer’s unique behavioral patterns—known as “life patterns”—to detect and block cyber threats that cannot be detected by traditional signature-based methods. Over the past year, the company has expanded this approach to ensure the security of the AI agents themselves, helping hundreds of Japanese organizations adopt AI with confidence.

Eatron Technologies Japan G.K. | イートロンテクノロジーズジャパン合同会社
Eatron, a leading developer of embedded AI for battery optimisation, has advanced the adoption of physical AI across Japan’s mobility and energy sectors. Its technology improves battery performance, safety and lifetime, positioning Eatron as a leading contributor to intelligent electrification and software-defined energy systems in Japan.

ElevenLabs | イレブンラボ
In its first year in Japan, ElevenLabs took voice AI from creative tools into mission-critical enterprise. Collaborations with NTT Docomo Business (contact centres) and local partner SORABITO—now in trials with Komatsu—brought natural Japanese voice agents to industrial frontlines, driving enterprise adoption nationwide.

First Derivative
First Derivative is bringing Dark Factory, its AI-native software engineering approach for capital markets, to Japan’s megabanks. Governed AI agents use enterprise knowledge to transform software delivery, reduce reliance on scarce specialists and help banks regain ownership of the knowledge embedded in their technology estates.

Foundry Labs
Foundry Labs delivers AI systems for Japan. This year we built AI systems for leading Japanese enterprises, trained their engineers through our FDE Excellence Program (first adopter: LayerX), and developed Minarai, which captures in detail how a business runs, making tacit knowledge visible and putting processes under control for compliance and improvement.

learningBOX, Inc. | learningBOX株式会社
learningBOX built an in-house AI-powered English vocabulary app, offered free to all, using Claude Code and Codex, and brought it together with its core learningBOX platform, which is already used by 1,000,000+ users, into a special-needs classroom in rural Hyogo, making adaptive digital learning accessible to students often overlooked by mainstream EdTech.

Lifebit
Genomic medicine advances only when data can be studied at scale, yet the most valuable data cannot be moved. Lifebit, the UK company behind Genomics England’s 60-petabyte genomic library, solved this in Japan: its federated platform is live at the University of Tokyo and is currently underpinning Cancer Research for the GeMJ project, the basis for UK-Japan research collaboration.
