BAE Systems Lock in Gold Sponsorship for a Second Year

The British Chamber of Commerce in Japan is honoured to confirm that BAE Systems will continue its support of the British Business Awards as a Gold Sponsor for a second consecutive year. This partnership underlines BAE’s dedication to strengthening UK–Japan business ties and to advancing the British Business Awards as a stage that recognises and celebrates international excellence.

Speaking with Rob Peer, President of BAE Systems Japan GK, he reflected on BAE’s journey and their sponsorship: ‘As BAE Systems grows in Japan we are keen to support and nurture business talent and make connections with British and Japanese companies. The British Business Awards and our membership of the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan help us to celebrate business talent and make important new connections.’

2025 has been a landmark year for BAE Systems, defined by strategic collaborations and high-profile engagements that underscore its pivotal role in UK–Japan relations.

In the UK, the year began with a notable visit from Japan’s Defence Minister Gen Nakatani, hosted at BAE Systems’ Lancashire manufacturing site alongside Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki. Both witnessed first-hand the company’s cutting-edge contributions to the next-generation aircraft programme, GCAP—a partnership spanning the UK, Japan, and Italy.

Across the globe in Tokyo, BAE Systems engaged with the UK Business Secretary and Foreign Secretary during visits orchestrated by the British Embassy and the BCCJ, reflecting the deepening ties between the two nations. These discussions were complemented by BAE’s active presence at DSEI Japan, the country’s premier defence exhibition, which offered invaluable opportunities to strengthen partnerships with Japanese industry.

The GCAP programme also marked a milestone with the launch of Edgewing, a collaborative industrial venture with MHI and Leonardo. Meanwhile, BAE’s involvement in operations aboard the Royal Navy’s HMS Prince of Wales highlighted its operational excellence. Among the standout moments was the deployment of the T-150 autonomous drone to resupply the fleet at sea—a first in naval logistics.

Through each of these achievements, BAE Systems has consistently demonstrated its commitment to innovation, collaboration, and the enduring UK–Japan alliance. We are grateful for the company’s steadfast support and look forward to building on this momentum in the years ahead.

英国では、年初に中谷元防衛大臣がBAEシステムズのランカシャー製造拠点を訪問し、新駐英国日本国大使の鈴木浩氏と共に、次世代航空機プログラム「GCAP」に対する同社の最先端技術への貢献を直接目の当たりにしました。このプログラムは英国、日本、イタリアの3か国共同のプロジェクトです。

東京では、BAEシステムズが、英国大使館および在日英国商業会議所が主催した訪問の機会を通じて、英国のビジネス大臣および外務大臣と交流を行い、両国の結びつきが一層深まっていることを示しました。これに加え、BAEシステムズは日本最大の防衛展示会である「DSEI Japan」に積極的に参加し、日本企業とのパートナーシップを強化する貴重な機会を得ました。

また、GCAPプログラムでは、三菱重工業株式会社（MHI）およびレオナルドとの共同産業事業「Edgewing」が立ち上がるなどの節目を迎えました。さらに、BAEはイギリス海軍「プリンス・オブ・ウェールズ（HMS Prince of Wales）」での作戦参加においてもその運用能力の高さを示しています。特に注目すべきは、艦隊への物資補給のために無人ドローン「T-150」を海上で初めて展開したことで、これは海軍物流における画期的な事例となりました。
