Responsible Business

Responsible Business sits as the third pillar of Chamber vision project, BCCJ 5.0. At the BCCJ, we recognise the growing importance of applying business activities in a manner that considerate of economic, social and environmental benefits for all stakeholders. By operating in a way that promotes all-round progressive, sustainable development, not only do organisations appeal more to consumers, but also in attracting and retaining employees.

The BCCJ’s Responsible Business taskforce is responsible for driving the Chamber’s Responsible Business programme.

Part of the bank’s commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive economy, Barclays LifeSkills helps people develop the skills they need to succeed and better manage their money. By unlocking skills and employment opportunities, the programme supports underserved communities to progress.

“We are very proud of the work we’re doing in Japan through the LifeSkills programme,” said Kentaro Kiso, president and representative director of Barclays Securities Japan Limited. “We believe everyone deserves the financial independence and opportunity that comes with a job—and as a bank, we’re well-positioned with the skills and resources to help.”

Engage in Positive Impact Initiatives

At the BCCJ, we encourage businesses to contribute to society by supporting Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs), and charitable initiatives that drive positive change. Whether through financial contributions, employee volunteering, pro bono services, or strategic partnerships, businesses can make a real difference in the communities that need it most. Engaging in these initiatives not only strengthens your company’s reputation and brand value but also enhances employee engagement, fosters innovation, and builds trust with customers and stakeholders.
