This exclusive event hosted by the British Embassy alongside the BCCJ will explore the evolving cyber threat landscape and the critical role of international collaboration. Together, we will explore the tangible progress made since the signing of the Hiroshima Accord, including groundbreaking initiatives like the i100 program, which exemplify the power of public-private partnerships in enhancing cybersecurity resilience.

This event promises to be an engaging exploration of one of today’s most pressing global challenges. Join leading experts Chris Capper, Cyber Attaché for North East Asia at the British Embassy Tokyo; Naoko Ogawa, Director of Industrial Technology at Bureau of Keidanren, Ayaji Furukawa, Senior Manager of the Cyber Security Technology Center at Toshiba and Ken Katayama, Project General Manager of Digital Policy at Toyota Motor Corporation, as they share unique insights into the latest trends, challenges, and strategies shaping cybersecurity in Japan, in the UK-Japan relationship, and beyond.

Naoko Ogawa | Director of Industrial Technology, Bureau of Keidanren

Ms. Naoko Ogawa is the Director of the Industrial Technology Bureau at Keidanren, representing over 1,600 companies. Since 2016, she has led efforts in science, technology, and digital economy, contributing to reports like Society 5.0 and Digital Transformation.” Since joining in 1994, she has worked on trade, climate change, and gender diversity. From 2003-2006, she served at Japan’s Permanent Mission in Geneva, negotiating WTO trade in services. Ogawa holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Tokyo.

Naoko Ogawa | Director of Industrial Technology, Bureau of Keidanren

Ms. Naoko Ogawa is the Director of the Industrial Technology Bureau at Keidanren, representing over 1,600 companies. Chris Capper | Cyber Attaché for North East Asia, British Embassy in Tokyo

Chris is a diplomat with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. He currently serves as Cyber Attaché for North East Asia and is based at the British Embassy in Tokyo. He has previously worked on a range of cyber topics, from serious organised crime to science and technology, for the Cabinet Office, Home Office, and wider government.

Chris is a diplomat with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. He currently serves as Cyber Attaché for North East Asia and is based at the British Embassy in Tokyo. Ayaji Furikawa | Senior Manager, Cyber Security Technology Center, Toshiba

Ayaji joined Toshiba in 2019, focusing on security governance, HR development, and product security. Previously, at METI, Ayaji promoted industrial security cooperation with Europe and the U.S. Currently, they serve on the IPA Industrial Cybersecurity Center and IEC ACSEC committees. In 2024, Ayaji participated in the Japan-UK Cyber Fellowship and authored “Lessons Learned from the UK Effective Public-Private Partnership for Critical Infrastructure Protection in Cybersecurity”, presented at CSS 2024 Kobe.

Ken Katayama is a Policy Evangelist at Toyota Motor Corporation (since 2021), working on digital policy issues including privacydata, cybersecurity, and  AI. He holds roles at the Keidanren, JAMA, and the BIAC Digital Economic Policy Committee. Ken is a Guest Member of Keio University’s KGRI. Previously, he spent 14 years at Microsoft working on digital policy issues.

Access & Security:

  1. For security purposes, please show your booking confirmation and photo ID at the main gate.  Acceptable ID: a passport, a UK or Japanese driving license, an Individual number card, a Residence card, a Japanese police ID, a diplomatic MFA ID, a ministry employee ID, a juki-net card, or a Japanese pilot or boat licence. A company ID or a business card will NOT be sufficient. If you do not have an acceptable ID, you may not be able to enter the Embassy.  
  2. We would appreciate your cooperation if any additional security checks are necessary.
  3. Car parking at the Embassy is available only for those guests with physical mobility issues or for security reasons. Please use public transport. Taxis and cars will not be allowed to enter the Embassy compound, but will be able to drop off in front of the main gate. Please contact [email protected], If you need a parking permit. The guards will check all vehicles that enter the Embassy compound.
  4. Smoking is NOT allowed on Embassy premises.

Please note – For security reasons, it is imperative that you register your attendance using exactly the same name that appears on your ID. Discrepancies will mean that entry to the Embassy will be refused.

Meal: Breakfast pastries and coffee/tea will be served at this event. Please indicate any specific dietary requirements at the time of booking.

Cancellation policy: For reservations made after Wednesday, February 19 at 17.00, are non-refundable. Please note, no-shows will be charged in full, and we are unable to accept cash payments at the door.
