How do Japan’s labour law changes affect your organisation? Find out at a special BCCJ webinar on April 16 …

The new “Work Style Reform Legislation” was passed in 2018, introducing significant changes to Japan’s labour laws in an attempt to address the dangers of overworking by the National Diet. Most amendments took effect in April of 2019, requiring employers to take immediate action in compliance. One-year on, further revisions have been enforced under Japan’s ‘Equal Work Equal Pay’ law.

From April 1, 2020, large companies are now obliged to follow new laws dealing with employee management (full-time and part-time), with SMEs to join suit a year later. Commuting allowance, overtime allowance, special leave, salaries and bonuses, and equitably determined pay raises according to the employees’ skills and performance, are among areas addressed under new compliance.

So what does all of this mean for your organisation? And what are some of the new compliance considerations coming into play as a result of COVID-19? Join us on April 16, when we will be joined by Hiroshi Chiba of Chiba Law Firm for an interactive Toolbox webinar. We will be reality-checking laws introduced in past revisions, better understanding the equal work for equal pay amendment, and addressing the current situation surrounding COVID-19.
