**We are delighted to welcome MAST as the newest Entrepreneur member of the BCCJ!**
MAST is set to host Japan’s first ever international defence conference and exhibition next year.
A message from the company about MAST Asia 2015:
Backed by Japan’s Ministry of Trade, Economy and Industry (METI) and Ministry of Defence (MOD), Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF), Defense Technology Foundation (DTF), and US Navy 7th Fleet Command, MAST Asia will take place at the Pacifico centre in Yokohama, Japan (Wednesday 13th to Friday 15th May).
This historic event (the twelfth MAST event) is expected to run biennially in support of Japan’s “Three Principles” defence trade policy, its international navy partnerships, and various bi-lateral agreements that promote defence business in the region.
MAST’s typical number and diversity of participants (1,000 from 49 countries) is expected to rise dramatically, mirroring a growing appetite for defence business with Japan: MAST Asia expects to see significant participation from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand.
Visitors represent every stage of the researching, purchasing, deployment and operating chain for naval (and Coast Guard) platforms, systems, products, components and services (airborne, surface or undersea). They include Programme Managers, Scientists/Researchers, Engineers, Procurement Executives, Attaches, Chiefs of Navies and flag officers.
Over three days (plus an independent “Doing Defence Business with Japan” seminar one day before) the “first in class” MAST Asia 2015 will feature:
Keynote and Plenary Sessions
Top level commentary setting the tone for the week by Japan’s key operational/ government figures e.g. TBC Chief of Maritime Staff and Minister of Defence, and global counterparts e.g. confirmed Vice Admiral Thomas, Commander US Navy 7th Fleet, and TBC UK Royal Navy First Sea Lord and Minister of Defence.
Three/four parallel stream technical conference
Over 100 international presentations from navies, government agencies, and research and technology centres (selected by MAST’s Technical Conference Committee) included in a final programme that gives delegates an unparalleled, complete perspective on operational issues, and technologies needed to meet navies’ future capabilities requirements.
MAST’s global exhibition both supports the conference sessions (displays/demonstrations of technologies discussed) and stands apart, allowing visitors to evaluate future and state-of-the-art technologies from leading manufacturers and suppliers of naval/coast guard platforms, systems and solutions.
Presentations on exhibitors’ stands to explain the commercial benefits of their solutions, in fifteen minute flash briefings
A regular feature of MAST is tours of naval units berthed in a nearby harbour (this year at the US 7th Fleet and JMSDF naval bases in Yokosuka). See systems in the ‘real world’ context.
Numerous social functions/hospitality events during the week will unite participants at open and invitation-only networking and discussions.
VIP management programme
A bespoke service between VIPs and exhibitors that makes personal introductions and enables quality time and meaningful meetings take place.
