‘Premium Friday’ to Start in February

The Japan News reports:
The Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry and consumption-related organizations in the private sector decided on 12 December to launch on Feb. 24 next year the “Premium Friday” campaign to promote shopping and eating out on the last Friday of each month.
The public and private sectors aim to help boost consumption through the envisioned program, which is expected to feature events across the country to boost sales of luxury items.
The campaign will also encourage companies to allow employees to finish work earlier than usual on the designated Fridays to boost consumption in the afternoon.
On Monday, the industry ministry, the Japan Department Stores Association, the National Federation of Shopping Center Promotion Associations and other organizations set up a committee to promote Premium Friday events and decided on a logo for the campaign.
