It’s a crystal year for the British Business Awards (BBA) gala, and we have some big surprises to mark the occasion…

Following last year’s successful delivery of our first ever hybrid British Business Awards gala (BBA2021) at The British Embassy in Tokyo, the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ) is delighted to announce that we are bringing the BBAs back as an in-person event, live-streamed from The Conrad Tokyo on the evening of November 2, 2022. This year marks the 15th consecutive year of BBA celebrations, so we are planning a few surprises to make it that extra bit special…

Dress code: Black tie or national dress

On the night of the BBA2022 gala, you will be welcome to dress-up, reflect, and celebrate. As previous years of the icionic black-tie gala have shown, this will be no ordinary event!

Launched in 2008, our BBA gala event celebrates excellence while showcasing success and innovation across all industries. The Awards also highlight the important social contributions made by British and Japanese organisations through their commitment to sustainability, community, and ethical behaviour as well as dealing with the challenges of 2022.

The BBA 2022 will be followed by a ni-ji kai at Conrad Tokyo’s Bar & Lounge “Twenty Eight”, offering an extensive selection of drinks along with a breathtaking view over the Hamarikyu Garden.

Winning a BBA trophy is a prestigious endorsement of an organisation’s projects, initiatives, products or achievements. Not only are the trophies worthwhile masterpieces on their own, winners are acknowledged as industry leaders and named the best in their respective categories. This is a valuable measure of success that can be used in a variety of communications creating publicity, positive organisational profiling and heightened credibility. Winners are eligible to publicise their achievement in all their marketing collateral, providing they state the category and year in which the award was won.

Trophies

We are delighted to announce that this year’s trophies will be provided once again by Kate Thomson of Ukishima Sculpture Studio. Kate’s inspired work has been central to the evolution of the Awards, having sculpted the trophies for 11 previous BBAs. In this below video, we hear from Kate about the design process, what the iconic trophies symbolise and what the British Business Awards means to her as an established British sculptor and artist living in Japan.
